My husband and I sold our first house in Canberra through Maria in 2017. However, this was not the first time we dealt with her.
My first encounter with Maria happened over 10 years ago when we were hunting for our first house in Canberra. I had only slight interest in a house that Maria was selling. However, she managed to hook me up on the phone for over 10 minutes. "This woman is so persistent!" I said to my husband, "If we have a house to sell, I will definitely engage her as our agent."
Our second encounter with Maria was in 2013 when we were looking for an investment property. We became extra cautions when we stepped into a house and found that Maria was the seller's agent. However, we fell in love with the house immediately, falling prey to its wonderful presentation. We made an offer within one week after its first opening.
We still love the house but suspected that we paid a premium due to Maria's super strong negotiation skills. I told my husband that in order to get the premium back, we need to engage Maria when it is time for us to sell.
The opportunity came towards the end of last year when we moved out of our first house. Our initial intention was to offer the house for renting rather than sell. However, the long list of renovations and repairs suggested by the property manager made us feel exhausted.
With a phone call from us, Maria took on the job of preparing the house for sale like a breeze. Armed with a small but super efficient team of handyman, stylist and photographer, Maria turned the house from a 1990s' ordinary three-bedroom dwelling into a stylish urban chic within a few weeks (We could not believe that the house was ours when we saw its pictures on Allhomes). Maria project managed the whole process of transformation, including dictating the paint colours and material used for the door handles. She managed the project mostly from remote. However, the frequent telephone calls between us and her gave us the false impression that Maria was looking after us only, rather than over a dozen of clients at the same time.
Not surprisingly, the house was sold at a fantastic price. With its wonderful presentation and Maria's tireless marking efforts, the contract was exchanged before Christmas, which set a happy tone for the holiday season.
Our love affair with Maria however has not ended. Maria offered to give us some free advice on styling our new house, and she is fulfilling her promise in her busy schedule. Although now a former client, we do feel that Maria has become part of our journey. We are constantly inspired by her hardworking attitude, her honesty and warmth, and her wisdom and great taste. We wish her continue to flourish in an industry that she is passionate about!
