We all know Maria Selleck Properties as an agency that gives back. Not just in their desire to achieve everything possible for their clients, but in their donations of time and money to the Canberra community. This year marks their most monumental step yet. On May the 20th MSP will be hosting the Heart Foundation Gala Dinner, set to raise funds up to the six figures for this worthwhile cause. Already with months of planning behind them, this is looking to be an essential event in the Canberra calendar. Major sponsors so far include realestate.com.au and the Canberra Weekly.
Talking to the principal, Maria Selleck, you begin to understand why this cause is so close to her heart. Family is everything to Maria. She saw her father suffer because of heart disease and it’s something she wishes no other family to experience. So, after deciding it was time to give back to the community significantly after years of our continued support, it was this charity that really stood out.
Heart disease is Australia’s biggest killer with 54 deaths each day. Right now, there are approximately 1.4 million men, women and children in Australia living with heart disease and more than 55,000 Australians suffering from heart attacks each year. It’s more than likely you have someone in your life that is affected. The Heart Foundation has been working tirelessly for the last 50 years, leading the battle to save lives and improve the heart health of all Australians.
Even close to home, the Heart Foundation ACT directly supports the Canberra community with health programs, education, research and activities that save lives and reduce suffering caused by heart disease. Funds from the Gala will go directly to the Heart Foundation, helping them to take on the greatest health challenge facing our community. Imagining an Australia where families are spared the trauma of heart disease, it’s easy to see why this is such a worthwhile cause.
