Just before both turning seventy we decided that the right time had arrived for us to sell our home and move to a more compact home with really minimal gardening and the more specialized facilities that we might need in the future.
This was a huge decision as we'd lived in our home for 42 years. It had been specially architect-designed for us. It was in Aranda, the suburb treasured by so many for its native vegetation. The home had been sited to receive a lot of sun. On one side, our living areas looked out onto natural bushland that led up to the foothills of Black Mountain. The house worked beautifully for us and the location was ideal, only 7 minutes from Civic. We needed an agent who understood our emotional attachment to home, family memories and location. Maria proved to be that person and we consider ourselves very fortunate that she agreed to become our agent. At the outset she understood the level of attachment we had to our home and we quickly sensed that we could put our faith in her. From that moment on, with Maria's calm professionalism always evident, everything fell into place.
From our first meeting with Maria in our home until the signing of contracts, a period of only 48 days had passed. Considering that Easter fell within this period, this seemed an amazingly short period of time. With hindsight, what do we beIieve were some of the most apparent reasons for such a pleasingly quick and successful outcome?
As already indicated, along with her calm professionalism at all times is Maria's ability to empathize with people. We could tell that not only were we the recipients of this, but it was also accorded to the many people who showed interest in our home. We were aware that a lot of additional time and very genuine respect was given to potential buyers who needed to often talk through their needs and personal situations with her. That we ended up with a number of very strong bids as the end of the tender period approached was probably, in large measure, due tothe fact that Maria's approach inspires justifiable faith in all parties.
Then, too, the marketing process was second to none. For example, the photos taken for newspaper advertising, 'aIIhomes', the front-of-house display board and the posters given to visitors were of the nature one would find in a beautiful magazine. Our home looked very stylish and, with a number of eye-catching items that Maria loaned from her personal collection, it even had appeal to those who look for a quite contemporary feel. Also, 'openhouse' times were specially chosen to coincide with those hours when the sun shines fully into the living areas and so there was always a feeling of natural warmth at those important times.
Although we started the process of selling our home with some nervousness, we quickly grew to have absolute confidence in Maria and, not only was the sale achieved in a short period of time but the sale price was well beyond our expectations! Our association with Maria and her always-accommodating team was an experience which we will long remember and treasure. We hold her in great esteem and wish her all the best for the future.
